    One Platform Policy

    Clarity. Quality. Partnership.

At Mento, we invest deeply in training, supporting, and developing our coaches. To protect the integrity of this ecosystem, and the trust our members and partners place in us, we ask coaches to choose Mento as their sole coaching platform while actively coaching with Mento.

Coaches may not simultaneously coach on competing enterprise coaching platforms or represent themselves as active coaches across multiple scaled coaching marketplaces.

Coaches may operate their own independent coaching or consulting practice, provided such work does not create competitive conflict or boundary confusion.

    This standard ensures:

    • Clear market positioning
    • Undivided platform commitment
    • Consistent quality standards
    • Protection of partner relationships
    • Elimination of dual-loyalty conflicts

    In short:

    • Coaches may operate their own independent coaching or consulting practice.
    • Coaches may serve private clients outside of Mento.
    • Coaches may provide services such as facilitation and group coaching on platforms pending the platforms do not also provide 1:1 coaching services in conflict with Mento.
    • Coaches may not coach on competing coaching platforms while coaching with Mento.
    • Coaches may not simultaneously represent themselves as active coaches on scaled coaching marketplaces.

Competing Enterprise or Scaled Coaching Platforms

For the purposes of this policy, a competing enterprise platform or scaled coaching marketplace refers to an organization that:

    1. Provides coaching services to corporate, enterprise, or organizational clients (rather than solely to private individuals)
    2. Operates a centralized coach marketplace, network, or roster model
    3. Matches or assigns coaches to employees within partner companies
    4. Offers coaching as part of an HR, talent development, leadership development, or performance solution
    5. Contracts directly with companies to deliver coaching at scale

    This includes platforms that:

    • Market themselves as enterprise coaching providers
    • Offer multi-seat or cohort-based coaching engagements
    • Provide analytics, dashboards, or HR reporting tied to coaching
    • Position themselves as alternatives to Mento in enterprise deals

Examples include, but are not limited to: BetterUp, Torch, Sounding Board, Ezra, AceUp, Elevate, Boon, Strawberry and similar enterprise coaching marketplaces.

What Does Not Qualify as a Competing Platform

The following are not restricted under this policy pending they are not sourced through enterprise marketplaces:

    • Your independent coaching or consulting practice
    • Direct 1:1 private clients
    • Speaking engagements or workshops
    • Advisory roles unrelated to enterprise coaching marketplaces
    • Certification programs or professional membership organizations (e.g., ICF)
    • Non-competing service providers that do not operate a corporate coaching marketplace

Independent work is permitted provided it does not create competitive conflict, brand dilution, or boundary confusion.

    Practical Rule of Thumb:

    If the organization:

    • Sells coaching to HR or Talent Development leaders
    • Matches you to employees inside companies
    • Operates as a multi-coach enterprise network

…it likely qualifies as a competing enterprise coaching platform.

If you are unsure, bring it forward before engaging.

As new categories and services emerge within the coaching space, these boundaries may evolve as the Mento platform grows.

    Boundary Integrity

If a coaching or professional relationship begins through Mento, that relationship must remain within Mento unless explicit written authorization is granted.

    Coaches may not:

    • Move members off-platform
    • Continue services independently with members introduced through Mento
    • Enter parallel consulting arrangements with active members or partners

This prevents dual-loyalty dynamics, conflicting obligations, and neutrality risks.

This policy does not restrict your broader professional growth. It only governs participation in competing enterprise coaching platforms while actively coaching with Mento. It simply ensures that while you are actively coaching within Mento’s enterprise ecosystem, your platform affiliation is singular and clear.

    When in Doubt

    If you are:

    • Invited to join another platform
    • Approached by a member for side work
    • Exploring a new engagement that may overlap
    • Unsure whether something constitutes a boundary issue

Escalate & communicate before proceeding. Our commitment is to support you in navigating opportunities without accidentally stepping into a conflict of interest.
