As your Anthropic and OpenAI members approach the end of their initial coaching term, this guide will help you navigate continuation options & conversations. This resource includes org-specific paths, clear member next steps and sample coach scripts. Best practice is to have the continuation conversations during your session ~3-4 sessions prior to the term end date.
Anthropic
Following their initial 6 months of coaching, Ants have the option to continue their coaching journey at Mento using their Benepass L&D stipend. Coaches should have a continuation conversation with each Ant member as you approach the end of your initial 6-month term, ideally 3 sessions prior.
Steps:
- Coaches should initiate continuation discussions with your member with ~3 sessions remaining (sample script below).
- Members should email concierge@mento.co to confirm they would like to continue or if they have questions. Your role as coach is to let your member(s) know continuation is encouraged and an option. Your member is responsible for initiating their continuation. Mento will reply to the above email with further details to easily extend their coaching term.
- Members will pay for their Mento membership by submitting the receipt through Benepass.
Ants can find added details in their Mento Program FAQ: Mento Coaching at Anthropic (this link is only accessible for Ant employees).
If they have Benepass specific questions, you can let them know they can reach out to their benefits team in #people-tickets (Ant slack) or at benefits@anthropic.com.
FYI for you as Coach (no need to share this with your member): when they complete their initial term and convert to using their L&D stipend to pay for Mento coaching, they will technically transition from a B2B to a D2C membership.
Sample Anthropic Coaching Script: Continuing Coaching
“As we get closer to the end of our coaching term, I want to make sure you know that Anthropic is encouraging Members to continue coaching using their L&D stipend.
I’ve really valued our work together. If you’re interested in continuing, we can use one of our remaining sessions to look at what has shifted, what still feels unfinished, and what you’d want the next phase of coaching to focus on.
There’s no pressure. I just want to make sure you know the option is available.”
If the Member is interested:
“Great. As a next step, you should email concierge@mento.co, and let the Mento team know and they will help you with the next steps. You can find instructions for using Benepass in the Mento Program FAQ.”
If the Member is unsure:
“That’s completely fine. You might think about what has been most valuable so far, what you are still working through, and whether having continued support would be useful for what comes next.”
If the Member asks what the coach thinks:
“I’m happy to share what I see. I think there is still meaningful work we could do around [insert one or two specific development areas], but the decision is yours.”
OpenAI
OAI is open to members continuing in coaching beyond their initial term pending internal approvals. Coaches should have a continuation conversation with each of your OAI members as you approach the end of your initial 6-month term, ideally 3-4 sessions prior.
Steps:
- Coaches should initiate continuation discussions with your member with ~3 sessions remaining (sample script below).
- If interested, coaches guide them to reach out to their HRBP sharing the value so far and how a continuation will help them continue to grow as a leader for formal approval.
- Member is responsible for reaching out to their HRBP for approval.
- When a decision is made, have them let you know AND have them email concierge@mento.co to let our team know their HRBP has approved a continuation. We will then extend their term end date once we have confirmation from our POC.
Sample Coaching Script: Continuing Coaching
As we approach the end of our initial coaching term, I want to make you aware that OAI is open to supporting participants who would like to continue their coaching journey with Mento.
“The next step is to reach out to Monica Bi (for managers)/Julia Dranov (for ICs) or your HRBP for formal approval. I encourage you to share the value you are getting out of coaching and how a continuation will help you as a leader within OAI.”
If the Member is unsure:
“That’s completely fine. You might think about what has been most valuable so far, what you are still working through, and whether having continued support would be useful for what comes next.”
If the Member asks what the coach thinks:
