Why does Mento use the Career Check-in Survey?

We use this survey because we want to:

  • Help members think through various aspects of their career
  • Help us quantify the impact of coaching
  • Help you get clear feedback and recognition from your members

What is the Career Check-in Survey?

Story time 📖 The Career Check-in survey is a product of the collaboration with Mento coaches in early 2022 - the team wanted to get more thorough baseline data on members about their job satisfaction, work-life balance, career growth, manager path, etc.

This survey is a comprehensive assessment of the member’s current experience at work and with Mento . It is a voluntary survey and it takes around 10-15 minutes to complete it.

When do members fill it out?

The career check-in survey was designed to be done repeatedly:

  • once before the first 1:1
  • then at the end of each quarter

We do this because we can see clear and quantifiable impact of coaching by looking at the delta of the results.

Where can I see the results from the member?

For new members, the Member Success team will handle sending and sharing the results with you through your member tracker. We will ping you via Slack if you’ve gotten a new response. This data can really help you prepare for your first 1:1 with the member.

For the following surveys that is done each quarter, our team will ask you to share the link with your members directly, because we found that people are most likely going to respond if their coach asks them to do so 😊

What do I do with the survey data?

If you have sent the survey out to members, make sure to check the results that have been shared with you via your member tracker! It will show you rich data on areas that your member is happy about, and areas that can be addressed in coaching. There’s also space for members to leave clear feedback on the impact of you as a coach. Coaches have gotten a ton of validating insights from these surveys in the past.

How to make sense of the survey data?

I’m still feeling stuck - can I get more support?

Of course! 👁️ We got you. Feel free to book a time with Tara or ping @Angel Hu via Slack to interpret the data and identify key learnings about your coaching practice. Don’t let this feedback go to waste ⭐
