Leverage past experience and comp

Hi XXX,

When we spoke initially, you shared that you thought this role would probably be $XXX,000 - $XXX,000 and equity within the range of X% - X%. In my head, I was able to say that the high and medium range of those two options both felt like something I could work with and would feel very comfortable executing against and proving my value against, but it feels like we have landed with the low end of both.

Just for context, the total comp of this role winds up being significantly less than my compensation now. Now, of course, the reason I’ve been able to increase my current compensation in my current role has been by consistently delivering on and exceeding expectations and not ever letting experience define the value I am able to create. That said, I recognize that what you are largely basing off of here is what you can see on a resume or LinkedIn. And what I would like to understand would be what additional aspects of my background and experience I could speak to that would make you feel more comfortable in my abilities.

Based on what you’ve shared about the core responsibilities of this role, I am confident in my ability to immediately add value as these are all areas in which I’ve already worked in different capacities and have succeeded at. If we can find a way to increase the [salary or equity] associated with this role, I would feel much more comfortable and aligned with [company].
