It’s an exciting moment when you’re matched with your first member! Here’s how we’ll support you during this Mento Milestone 🎉
- Our team will reach out to you directly over email when you’ve been matched with your first member. You’ll also receive an email or text notification depending on the notification preferences you selected in your Mento account! 😃
- Members are matched with either one coach if we feel it’s a perfect match, or we will provide two coach options if we feel it is important to give our members a choice.
- Check out the difference between a Chemistry Call (when a member is matched with two coaches here) and Kickoff #1 (when a member is matched with one coach for recurring 1:1s right off the bat).
- This is a great opportunity to reach out to your member, introduce yourself, and, if they haven’t booked, encourage them to do so.
- You can find any notes or additional context on your Member in the “Private Notes” section of their profile. You’ll also be able to see a short Q&A your member completed.
- We do our best to leave you notes, but depending on how we match a member, we may simply be going off their LinkedIn to match.
- Make sure to set up a 1:1 session with Tara once you’ve been notified that you are getting for first member if you want! She’ll help you prep for the session.
- Let us know how the initial session went by responding to your matching point-of-contact or by letting your support team know at coachsupport@mento.co! We often find that after your first session questions emerge — we’re here to help you answer 😃. We will check in with your member as well, and try to share any feedback!
- If a member has been matched with multiple coaches, we will reach out to the member and see who they’d like to work with going forward. We will let you know and be sure to provide feedback either way.
FAQs
A member I have a session with is matched with another coach. What’s happening here?
- In the matching process, we may match a member with one coach or with two coaches. Sometimes we feel a specific coach is a great fit and there is no need to look any further. Other times, there could be multiple good options or it’s important we give our members the option.
- When we match you with a member who is also matched with another coach, the first session you have is a Chemistry Call and all about getting to know them. Check out more about Chemistry Calls here.
How long are our 1-on-1s?
- All 1-on-on1s with your member are the standard length of 45 minutes. These sessions should be set as recurring bi-weekly meetings that take place every other week.
What happens if a member doesn’t show in our first 1-on-1?
- After waiting for about 5 minutes, please message your member in the dashboard. If after 10 minutes your member is a no-show, message them and let them know you’re sorry to have missed them and see if you can get another session scheduled. Also be sure to reach out to your support team at coachsupport@mento.co to let us know.
What if a member doesn’t want to schedule a recurring time?
- Scheduling a recurring 1-on-1 with your members is important to establishing a relationship with your member and creating consistency in their coaching relationship which leads to progress. Members who aren’t in recurring 1-1’s have a higher member churn and lower satisfaction rating and also leads to more admin for coaches.
What if we can’t agree upon a time for a recurring 1-on-1?
- If you aren’t able to open up additional time slots or there’s an issue with timezones, please reach out to your support team at coachsupport@mento.co, and let us know. We will work with the member. We put a lot of time and effort into matching, please do your best to find a workable time with your member.
What if I’m not ready?!
Jumping into your first coaching session can feel like a lot and it’s understandable to feel nervous or unprepared. We recognize you may be new to coaching or haven’t done it in this environment. The good news is we’re here to help!
We’ve developed the initial training to give you a thorough understanding of coaching at Mento, our coaching philosophy, and how to best support your members.
- On occasion, if we have a member sign up who we think you’d be a great fit for, you may be assigned a member before you finish the training. If this happens, we’ll reach out, have you schedule a 1-on-1 with Tara a little sooner and walk you through next steps.
Once you do finish the Coaching 101 training course and complete your Training Review, please be sure to schedule a 1-on-1 with Tara before your first member session! She’ll walk you through how to approach and prepare for your first session.
