Community Guidelines

Coaching is not for the faint of spirit. Mento is a year+ long development commitment for coaches delivering high-level services for their clients and communities as a form of their highest self-expression.

It is, in effect, a graduate program for coaches looking for continuing development with peers who are already experts. Mento assumes you are a metaphorical warrior working through purpose and is designed to sharpen your sword so you can be on the growing edge of your own evolution as a coach and leader.

The intention of the Mento coaching experience is to give you an opportunity to strengthen your voice and grow as a person, in addition to supporting you with whatever is next for your coaching practice as designed by you.

We work towards both expansion and precision, grounded in a deepened ownership of our relationship to service and personal and professional growth.

Here is how we encourage our coach community to show up as Coach

  • Assume positive intent with members, Mento, and other coaches
  • Practice a growth mindset
  • Clarity is kindness
  • Be the source of good relationships.
  • Approach changes with openness and curiosity
  • Publicly praise, celebrate, and acknowledge
  • Take things seriously, but not personally
  • The observant person finds many teachers. Find the gold in all feedback. If it bothers you, how does that mirror your growth edge?
  • Uphold commitments
  • Show up on time, ready and eager to learn
  • Bring enthusiasm. Practice, ‘yes, and..”
    • Priest and novelist Charles Kingsley on what makes us happy: "We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about."
  • Respect others as you respect yourself.
  • Care less: What's something you could benefit from caring less about?
  • How do we love the world? What do you love about coaching, about coaching at Mento, about your members? Focus on what you love about being here.
  • As coaches the focus moves away from ourselves. We delve into the challenges of being a human being in the face of our and another’s humanity.
  • Be of service in a way that serves you. No extra points for martyrdom.

Finally, here’s our guiding principle that embodies how we like to show up as Mento Coaches:

"Every transaction is paid for at least three times. First, with the money you pay. Second, with the time you spend. Third, with the reputation you create through your behavior. Being pleasant, reliable, and easy to work with might cost you a little more time. Perhaps even a bit of extra money. But the long-term returns from a great reputation usually outweigh the cost of a single transaction. Most of the value in life and in business arises out of good relationships." - James Clear

Take Exquisite Care,
