Collecting and Sharing Mento Member Testimonial

The experience our members have and the trust they hold in Mento and their Coach is critical to our success. Because of this, we’ve created a process in which coaches can ask their Mento members for meaningful testimonial to share with their network in a way that is ethical and upholds our white-glove service.

Who can ask their Mento member for a testimonial? Coaches who have been actively working with a Mento member for at least 6 months may ask that member for testimonial. Additionally, please only ask members who gave you 5/5 stars to the question “How satisfied are you with your coach?” during the previous Pulse Check survey and who have given Mento at least an 9 NPS in the last Pulse Check. (You can find this information in your personal member tracker in your Mento Google Drive). This is to ensure that you and your member have achieved a certain degree of know, like, and trust in your relationship.

How can coaches collect testimonial from a Mento member?

If you’d like to request a Mento member testimonial please abide by the following steps:

  1. Review the ICF Code of Conduct.
  2. At the end of a coaching session, ask your member if they would be comfortable and willing to provide a testimonial about their experience working with you as their coach to share on your Linkedin.
  3. Review the expectations outlined in the Coach Testimonial Worksheet of what you can ask from your member: degree of anonymity (first name and last initial or fully anonymous), time spent on the testimonial, and questions asked. This should not be a big lift for your member to complete and they should be able to easily opt out.
  4. If your member agrees to provide you with a testimonial, send them this Coach Testimonial Worksheet via Templates on the Mento platform to complete.
  5. Once your member has returned the completed worksheet to you, write any additional copy you would like to accompany the post. Be sure to mention that this is a Mento member in your post!
  6. Please share your final draft to coachsupport@mento.co for review before you post!
  7. Once approved by the Coaching Team, you can then share your Mento member testimonial to your Linkedin (please only post this to Linkedin)! Be sure to tag @Mento in your post 😊. Please do not tag your member in the post.

A few final guidelines:

Please do not ask members to use the comments that they’ve left on their Pulse Check survey as testimonial. We explicitly state how we use qualitative and quantitative Pulse Check data in the survey and we currently do not state that this data will be used for coach testimonials. New members also receive this survey and new members should not be audited for testimonials at this stage in their coaching relationship.

For any testimonial that you collect from a Mento member, we ask that you cite Mento as the source of the relationship! While we support coaches having their own personal coaching businesses, we do not condone sharing testimonials of Mento members as personal clients with no attribution to Mento. We hope that the process we’ve outlined above is a win-win for Mento and our coaches 🏆

The trust that our members have in Mento and their coach is of our utmost concern. Unfortunately, we have had members churn or ask to switch coaches due to seeing their words publicly shared by their coach without their consent and because they felt uncomfortable with their new coach asking for a testimonial before it was appropriate. Practicing ethical coaching is our top priority at Mento as it is essential for us to grow as a business and change the lives of as many people as possible 💫

If you are interested to learn more about Coaching Ethics, we encourage your to read the ICF Code of Conduct. You can also send an email to coachsupport@mento.co with any questions!
